Hi
My name is Amanda.
(Otherwise known as “Lady Pan”)
A long time ago, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THEATRE. The first time I performed on stage was during a dance recital at the age of three. I had my first leading role in a church musical around the age of nine. I got a lead in the school play around the age of fourteen. I NEVER STOPPED. I was in every school play and musical, Shakespeare Troupe, Drama Club, community productions, and extra-curricular musical theatre clubs and singing groups.
I went on to earn my B.A. IN ACTING from TEMPLE UNIVERSITY in Philadelphia, PA. A decade later, my journey brought me to writing and performing
MY OWN TRAVELING SHOW.
An opportunity to perform a children’s puppet show at a renaissance faire inspired me to start writing scripts and painting backdrops and building puppets until before long, I was developing a touring show. The character, LADY PAN, evolved over the course of time and as her, I performed the telling of my ORIGINAL STORIES paired with CATCHY TUNES and AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION all around Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and Pennsylvania. I crafted oversized PROPS and SETS, and experimented in making mixed media PUPPETS. I toured my MINI MUSICALS for five years, some of that time living in a van with my dog. I was developing my shows in real time in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE, sometimes still altering a puppet or editing the SCRIPT even after opening weekend. I learned what worked. I learned how to make the shows portable. I learned what made the kids LAUGH, and I paid even closer attention to what made them want to be PART OF THE SHOW.
It would be an honor if a young person watching my show thought to themselves, “I WANT TO DO THAT.”
I am grateful for the little ones who sat SMILING back at me in those early years at the faires, laughing real BELLY LAUGHS, shouting out responses, RAISING HANDS in anticipation, PLAYING A ROLE on stage, taking home a souvenir quill, and best of all, stepping into the world of theatre. I wanted to inspire them, but truly, they were the INSPIRATION.
The character, Lady Pan, has a love for writing stories and promotes creative writing and literacy to children in the way of imaginative play. Artistic expression is encouraged and the collaborative art of MUSICAL THEATRE is taught through audience participation, silly dance moves and giggle worthy percussion lessons. Surprising costumes, hand painted backdrops, giant paper maché props and striped socks are just a few of the things she brings—
not to mention her giant book and quill!
Thank you for supporting theatrical productions for CHILDREN and families.
